Sorry for screaming... got a little excited there. I loves me some talking animal characters and I didn't know this book had one until he showed up in the book. So this is a chihuahua that channels the ghost of a New Jersey mafia hit man (presumably from the 1940s era considering the way he talks). Crossing my fingers that he doesn't become an annoying talking chihuahua.
"You hurt?" He ran up and down alongside my body, sniffing. Apparently satisfied that none of the small patches of blood that stained my pants -- and probably my hair, EW -- belonged to me, he planted his tiny body in the curve of my throat.
"You need me to take of someone?"
I'd laugh, but he was utterly sincere.
